‘Woody is the perfect display when it comes to integrating free-standing posters into an exhibition stand. The assembly is self-explanatory and can be completed in just a few minutes, even without routine - dismantling is even quicker. With the robust wooden plug-in system, this process can be repeated as often as required and even rough handling cannot harm the natural wooden surface. We have also simply handed the easy-to-transport Woody to our customers. A wooden display is particularly well received at trade fairs where nature and sustainability play a role. ‘Sometimes you just have to do it yourself.When the Lake Constance Foundation needed 48 roll-up displays for an international touring exhibition, there was a lively discussion with the designers about whether to use displays for an exhibition on climate protection that had a disastrous ecological footprint thanks to aluminium, PVC and production in the Far East.To save costs, a two-sided system was also needed, but neither the customers nor the designers liked the existing models.So the designer Tobias Klein, in co-operation with the advertising technician Roland Germar and the carpenter Ralf Vogt, decided to develop a display on his own.The result now bears the name Woody and is very resource-friendly.The frame is made of wood from sustainable German and Swiss forestry and is processed in the Lake Constance region.The print carriers are PVC-free and almost all other components are made from recycled materials or waste products. Woody can be used on both sides, is robust and can be set up in just a few minutes. The system is therefore a good alternative for trade fairs, exhibitions and POS. In any case, the Lake Constance Foundation has been happily touring Europe with its Woodys for a long time’

‘Kiss und Klein in Constance is focussing on renewable raw materials: the Woody display system is made entirely from wood. The company is positioning Woody as a real alternative to conventional displays made of aluminium, wood and PVC: the frame is made of FSC-certified wood and wood from European forestry. All other components of the system are made from recycled or waste products. The high-quality system is manufactured in Germany and is particularly stable - it is therefore also suitable for permanent and travelling exhibitions. It was designed as a double-sided display, and the company also offers matching prints on PVC-free material. The displays can be customised; base shapes, dimensions and types of wood can be changed according to taste and requirements. In the basic version with a square base, the Woody is approximately 95 x 200 cm in size and costs just under 300 euros including the banner.’

‘One point of view, two views: Can advertising be ‘good and sustainable’? Anyone who consistently endeavours to reduce their ecological footprint must answer this question with ‘no’. Nevertheless, even Oya-Medien eG has a roll-up display that shows some of our cover pictures large and colourful at events and Oya days. Tobias Klein and Andrea Kiss from Constance have developed a display system that is produced as regionally and fairly as possible. The frame of ‘Woody’ is made from FSC-certified, local wood. All other components of the system are made from recycled or waste products. The banner itself can be easily replaced and can be printed on both sides. ‘One point of view, two views’ is the slogan. This saves material, weight and transport costs. In conventional displays, the print carrier is made of PVC. Woody, on the other hand, is made entirely from polyester fabric produced in Germany, according to the manufacturer. The two designers see their development as a ‘work in progress’, especially when it comes to selecting the banner material - they would prefer a recycled product that fulfils the requirements in terms of fire protection and print quality. Now it just depends on what the Spanish walls are being used for - are the advertised products part of the problem or part of the solution?’
